How to run the live auction

The live screen is where the auction actually happens. You put one player on the block at a time, record each team’s bid, and close the lot as Sold or Unsold. Purses, max bids and squad limits update after every sale, so a team can never overspend.

Find it at: Auction → Auction Details → Start Auction (then the live screen)

Quick steps

  1. On the Auction Details tab, select Start Auction, pick a theme and colour, and select Save. The live screen opens.
  2. Select New Player (or press N) to put a player on the block, or search for one by number or name.
  3. Click a team, or press its shortcut key, for each bid. Use + and – to change the amount.
  4. Select Sold (S) to sell to the team holding the bid, or Unsold (U) if nobody bid. Re-auction (R) brings the last player back.
  5. Use the S view to check purses, M for player selection, boosters and Reset Live, and End Auction when everyone is done.

Every field, explained

Start and stay connected

  • Start Auction

    Required

Opens the live control screen. Every approved team gets its full purse (Points per Team), players are numbered, and the auction status becomes Live.

    • Found on the Auction Details tab. It stays disabled while setup items are still missing.
    • You first pick the live screen theme and colour, then select Save.
    • A category-based auction cannot start until it has at least one category.
    • Once the auction is live the same button reads Live Auction and simply reopens the screen.
  • Live

    Optional

The badge at the top of the screen shows whether you are connected to the auction server. Every bid and result travels over this connection.

    • Live means connected. Connecting... and Disconnected mean bids are not going through.
    • When Disconnected, select the refresh icon next to the badge to reconnect.
  • Reconnecting...

    Optional

If the connection drops, a full-screen notice appears and every control locks until you are back online, so no half-finished sale is recorded.

    • No Internet Connection means your device is offline.
    • Connection Lost means you were disconnected. Refresh the page to join again.

Putting a player on the block

  • New Player

    Required

Puts the next player on the block. By default it picks a random player who has not been sold or marked unsold yet.

    • Keyboard shortcut: N.
    • Disabled while a player is already on the block. Finish that lot first.
    • Shows "No available players found" when nobody is left to auction.
  • P No or name

    Optional

Search box for calling a specific player. Type their player number or part of their name and choose them from the list.

    • Picking a player who is already sold or unsold shows a warning ("… is already sold"). To bid on them again, use Re-auction.
    • Keyboard shortcuts do nothing while your cursor is in this box. Click outside it first.

    Example: 12 or Malhotra

  • Player Selection

    Optional

Decides which player New Player picks. Open it from the M view, under Manage Features.

    • Random Player (default): any available player.
    • Sequence Player: the next player number in order.
    • Filter by Field: random, but only players matching the filters you add (for example a role or category).
    • Unsold Players Only: pick only from players marked unsold, for a second round.
  • Auto Select Next Player

    Optional

When ticked, a new player is put on the block automatically a few seconds after each Sold or Unsold, with a countdown on screen.

    • The delay is 5 seconds.

Taking bids

  • Team

    Required

Each team has a button in the control bar with its shortcut key on the left. Click it, or press the key, to place that team’s bid. On a phone this is the Team dropdown.

    • The first bid on a player opens at the base bid (the category’s base bid in a category auction).
    • Each later bid from another team adds one bid increment to the current bid.
    • A greyed-out team cannot bid: its squad is full, it has no points left, the next bid is above its max bid, or a category limit blocks it. Hover the button to see why.
    • Shortcut keys N, S, U and R are reserved for the auction controls, so a team on one of those letters can only bid by click.
  • +

    Optional

The bid stepper next to the controls. + raises the current bid by one increment and – lowers it by one. You can also type an amount; it is shown in words underneath.

    • Works only after a team has bid on the player.
    • The increment comes from your bidding rules: a flat bid increment, or tiers that grow with the price if you turned on dynamic bidding.
    • An amount above the bidding team’s max bid or remaining points is refused with an error.

    Example: 80 (Eighty)

  • Max. Bid

    Optional

Shown on the bidding team’s card, with Total (full purse), Rem (points left) and Players (squad size). It is the most this team can bid on this player.

    • Max bid = points left minus enough base bids to still fill the minimum squad.
    • Example: 1,000 points, minimum 1 player and nobody bought yet: 1,000 on the player they are bidding for, 950 on the team cards (50 kept back for that one player).
  • Players

    Optional

Squad size against the maximum, with the minimum in brackets, for example 1/4 (1 min).

    • A team that reaches the maximum players per team can no longer bid.

Closing each player

  • Sold

    Required

Sells the player on the block to the team holding the current bid, at the current bid. The price comes off that team’s purse.

    • Keyboard shortcut: S.
    • Enabled only once a team has bid.
    • The server double-checks the purse, max bid and squad limits. If it refuses (for example "Team does not have sufficient budget"), the player stays on the block with the bid.
    • The screen shows "Last player … was sold to team … for … points".
  • Unsold

    Required

Marks the player on the block as unsold. No team or purse is touched.

    • Keyboard shortcut: U.
    • Enabled only while no team has bid on the player.
  • Retain

    Optional

Gives the player to the team holding the current bid for 0 points. Use it for players a team is allowed to retain.

    • Enabled only once a team has bid.
  • Re-auction

    Optional

Brings the last sold or unsold player back on the block for fresh bidding. If they were sold, the price goes back to the team’s purse.

    • Keyboard shortcut: R.

Views and auction tools

  • A

    Optional

The A S P M F buttons at the bottom right. A is the auction screen, S shows every team’s purse and squad, P lists players with Available / Sold / Unsold filters, and M opens Manage Features (its Team List chip is the same as S; Data Panel leaves the live screen for Joined Auctions). F switches full screen.

    • A, S and P are mirrored on the projector screen; M and F only change your screen.
  • Update Points

    Optional

Opens the booster panel so you can add bonus points to one or more teams. The points are added to the team’s Total and Rem. Deleting a booster takes them off again.

    • Pick one or more teams, set the amount (+ and – move it by 1,000) and select Add Booster.
    • Also in the menu as Booster.
  • Recalculate All Team Points

    Optional

Rebuilds every team’s remaining points from its purse, boosters and purchases. Use it if purses ever look wrong.

    • In the menu (the round button at the bottom right).
  • Broadcast Theme

    Optional

A tick box in the menu that switches the live screen and the projector to a dark Broadcast layout for everyone in the room. The controls are the same, but the team buttons become chips along the bottom.

    • It changes only the A view. S and P keep their usual screens, on the live screen and on the projector.
    • Tick it again to go back to the usual layout.
  • Reset Live

    Optional

Starts the whole auction again from scratch: every sale and unsold mark is cleared, boosters are removed and purses go back to full. The auction stays Live.

    • In Manage Features. You must confirm with Yes, Reset Auction.
    • This cannot be undone. Use Re-auction to fix a single player instead.
  • End Auction

    Optional

Finishes the auction. Its status becomes Completed and you return to your dashboard.

    • In Manage Features. You must confirm with Yes, End Auction.
    • There is no pause button. To take a break, simply stop putting players on the block.
    • When every player is done, the screen offers to create groups and end the auction for you.

Common mistakes

  • Keyboard shortcuts are ignored while the cursor is in a text box. Click an empty part of the screen before pressing N, S, U, R or a team key.
  • Sold needs a bid and Unsold needs no bid. If Unsold is greyed out, a team has already bid; use Sold or Re-auction.
  • A team greyed out in the control bar is blocked by a limit. Hover it to see whether it is full, out of points or over its max bid.
  • Reset Live wipes the whole auction. To fix one mistake, use Re-auction on that player instead.
  • Keep the badge at the top showing Live. If it drops, wait for it to reconnect before taking more bids.
