How to use the overlay and projector screens
Two read-only screens follow your live auction: a transparent overlay for your YouTube or video stream, and a projector view for the big screen at the venue. Both update by themselves as you run the auction from the live screen.
Watch the walkthrough
Find it at: Auction → Auction Details → Important Link (once the auction is live)
Quick steps
- Start the auction. Auction Details then shows Auction Overlay and Projector View under Important Link.
- Select Live Auction, pick a theme and a colour on the Themes tab, and select Save.
- Copy the Auction Overlay link and add it to OBS (or your streaming tool) as a browser source the size of your canvas, for example 1920 × 1080.
- Optionally, open Overlay settings from the live screen menu to hide parts of the overlay, such as the bids table or the sponsor strip.
- On the venue computer, log in as an organizer, open Projector View and select the F button in the bottom-right corner for full screen.
- Run the auction from the live screen. The overlay and the projector update on their own.

Where to find the links
Important Link
OptionalThe links block at the top of Auction Details. View Auction is always there; Auction Overlay and Projector View join it once the auction is live, and stay after it ends.
- Before the auction starts, find the overlay and projector links in the Links tab of the Start Auction window instead.
Auction Overlay
OptionalThe stream overlay: the player on the block, the leading team, the latest bids and your sponsors, drawn over a transparent background so it sits on top of your camera feed.
- Opens without a login, so it works as a browser source in OBS or any streaming tool.
- Give it to the person running your YouTube or video stream.
- You can hide the 12th Men logo, the ongoing bid panel, the bids table and the sponsor strip in Overlay settings (live screen menu → Overlay settings).
Example: …/auctions/<auction-id>/overlay
Projector View
OptionalThe big-screen view for the venue: auction name, the player card, the bidding team’s purse and the last result.
- Only the auction’s organizers and admins can open it. Logged-out visitors get the login form; anyone else is sent to the View Auction page.
- Press the F button in the bottom-right corner for full screen.
Example: …/auctions/<auction-id>/projector
Open Link
OptionalOpens the link in a new browser tab.
Copy
OptionalCopies the link so you can paste it into OBS or send it on. A confirmation such as “Overlay Link copied to clipboard” appears.
Themes and links window
Live Auction
OptionalThe button under Important Link. Before the auction it reads Start Auction; once it is live it reads Live Auction. Both open the themes and links window.
- The button is hidden once the auction has ended.
- It stays disabled while required auction details are still missing.
Links
OptionalLists every auction link with its status (Active or Closed), what it is for and who to share it with, plus Open, Copy and Share buttons.
- Copy all links copies every link at once, one per paragraph.
Theme 1
OptionalThe design of the stream overlay, previewed at the top of the window. Theme 1 is the default.
- Seven options: Theme 1 to Theme 7.
- Theme 2 uses the Theme 1 overlay layout and Theme 6 uses the Theme 3 layout.
- The projector keeps the same layout whichever theme you pick (unless Broadcast Theme is on).
Blue
OptionalThe colour swatches under the themes. The colour tints the overlay cards, the projector background and the live auction screen.
- Blue, Light Green, Green, Dark Blue or Light Blue. Blue is the default.
Save
OptionalSaves the theme and colour, then takes you to the live auction screen.
- If the auction has not started yet, Save also starts it. Pick your theme before you are ready to go live, or close the window without saving.
On the screens
Waiting for next player selection...
OptionalWhat the overlay shows between players. It switches to the player card as soon as you put a player up on the live screen.
No bids placed yet
OptionalThe overlay’s bids table before the first bid. After that it lists the three latest bids, newest first, and the leading team and amount appear at the top. Hidden if Bid history is turned off in Overlay settings.
Current Player & Team will be displayed here once the bidding starts
OptionalWhat the projector shows before bidding starts. After a sale it shows “Last player … was sold to team … for … points”. With Broadcast Theme on, the projector shows the Broadcast layout instead.
Overlay settings
Overlay settings
OptionalA page that shows or hides parts of the stream overlay. Open it from the live screen menu → Overlay settings.
- Only the auction’s admins and organizers can open it.
- Each switch saves as soon as you flip it, and the change syncs to overlays already open, including your OBS browser source.
- Select Live auction or the back arrow to return to the live screen.
- The Full-screen sponsor switch on this page has no effect on the overlay yet.
Preview overlay
OptionalOpens the overlay in a new browser tab so you can check your changes.
12th Men logo
OptionalThe branded header at the top of the overlay. On by default.
Ongoing bid
OptionalThe current bid amount and bidding team, top left of the overlay. On by default.
Bid history
OptionalThe recent bids table beside the player card. On by default.
Sponsor strip
OptionalThe scrolling sponsors in the bottom-left column. On by default.
- Disabled until the auction has at least one sponsor.
Stats strip
OptionalRotates last season, previous season and career stats along the bottom of the overlay.
- The strip only appears for auctions linked to a previous season that have stats to show.
Common mistakes
- The projector needs an organizer or admin login. Log in on the venue computer before the auction starts.
- The overlay theme changes only the overlay layout. To brand the projector, change the colour. The exception is Broadcast Theme in the live screen menu: it switches the live screen and the projector’s main view to a dark Broadcast layout that does not use your colour.
- The projector also follows the live screen’s A, S and P views, so switching to the team list there switches the big screen too.
- Players without a photo show a placeholder on both screens. Ask players to add a photo when they register.
- Save in the themes window starts an auction that has not started yet. Close the window instead if you only want to look.
